The National Council for Culture, Arts & Heritage, established in October 1998 as an autonomous body with and independent budget is tasked with the objective of promoting public policies that recognize the central role of culture in development by mobilizing and sharing information and new knowledge in this domain.

The software solution, NLS, developed specifically for NCCAH, is NCCAH's key strategy for ensuring effective management of its Natural History collections. NLS's main function is to allow NCCAH to manage its collections and provide a terminal solution to preserving accessibility of the Library's collections as technologies change. The Library requires a set of system platforms to support these goals with reliable online availability, performance, scalability and maintenance support.

Al-Majaz's first phase task is to analyze, design, develop, implement and perform data entry operations of Auction Lots from the Natural History catalogs for the NLS.

NLS provides metadata repository and search services. NCCAH will use the software created in the first phase, to provide resource discovery services for its collection of all the lot and books procured though auctions, etc.
